(Note: During the Lenten Season City Church will be blogging about Lent and our journey to Holy Week [April 9th – April 16]. I will be linking to the blog posts here on my blog page but you can find each blog post on our City Church website. Our hope is that each of these blog/articles will be an encouragement to you as you journey through the Lenten season as well.) Today’s blog is written by Dr. Shannon O’Leary a member at City Church.
Lent Day 19: Keeping up with the Spirit
When I was kid, every year several families from my church would pack up on a mission’s trip to Poland where an Australian family had started Elim Christian Center in a 450-year old ruined “palace” and was reaching out to the community. Their oldest son, Stevie, was my age and our trips to Poland were always filled with adventure: exploring, playing with the local polish kids, riding horses, helping the grown-ups with building projects, making music, riding horses… I gained an appreciation for Pierogi and Polish sausage cooked on a stick over a bonfire. Many valuable lessons were learned, including why there were so many rabbits in the barn (hint: Lunch) and that given a wooden block you can drive before you can reach the pedals.
