(Note: During the Lenten Season City Church will be blogging about Lent and our journey to Holy Week [April 9th – April 16]. I will be linking to the blog posts here on my blog page but you can find each blog post on our City Church website. Our hope is that each of these blog/articles will be an encouragement to you as you journey through the Lenten season as well.) Today’s post is from our Director of Community Life, Kristin Lescalleet.
Lent Day 9: Sin-Conscious
Back in Bible College, I had a professor, Dr. Walter Axtel, who used to tell us that we needed to be “God-conscious, not sin-conscious.” He didn’t mean that we shouldn’t be actively repenting of our sin when it is revealed to us. His concern was that we would spend our time looking inward rather than keeping our eyes on God. His point was that when we behold God’s beauty, our sin is naturally revealed.
