(Note: During the Lenten Season the City Church leadership team will be blogging about Lent and our journey to Holy Week [April 16]. I will be linking to the blog posts here on my blog page but you can find each blog post on our City Church website. Our hope is that each of these blog/articles will be an encouragement to you as you journey through the Lenten season as well.) Today’s blog entry is from our Pastor of Family Life Jeremy DeBord.
Lent Day 4: Lent and Community by Pastor Jeremy DeBord
I love the Lenten season because it’s not only an opportunity for reflection for myself, but also for my family and community. I will admit-when I attempt most spiritual rhythms on my own, it’s a huge struggle. Often they are inconsistent and weak. I find fasting, prayer, and repentance much more fulfilling and impactful when I do them with those closest to me. Not only do I have someone to talk about what the Lord is doing during this season, but also I find myself more willing to keep going. Knowing that my community is on the same path I am is very reassuring.
