Lent Day 2: Jesus’ Questions by Rev. Jack Carter
On this second day of Lent, may I suggest we ponder anew two probing questions from our Lord Jesus. In the context of speaking of his own impending death, Jesus reminded his disciples that following him would involve “denying themselves” and we certainly “deny ourselves” in all forms of fasting. And then comes to the questions in Mark 8:36-37, “For what will it profit them to gain the whole world and forfeit their life? Indeed what can they give in return for their life?
