(Note: During the Lenten Season the City Church leadership team will be blogging about Lent and our journey to Holy Week (April 16). I will be linking to the blog posts here on my blog page but you can find each blog post on our City Church website. Our hope is that each of these blog/articles will be an encouragement to you as you journey through the Lenten season as well.)
Lent Day 1: Lenten Season is about the Pursuit of Holiness
Holiness is a much-abused word in our culture. It conjures up an image of being some drab do-gooder. That somehow to be holy means that we must now cease existing from the human race. But just the opposite is true. Yes, holiness is a word that means to be set apart but the waters of holiness run much deeper. When the scripture speaks of encountering holiness, it means that when we encounter grace through Jesus Christ, He sets us apart in order to make us fit to live with Him. So the question becomes: How do we pursue this kind of holiness?
