In doing some research for an upcoming sermon I came across these four questions from a previous sermon that I taught sometime ago. For purposes of accuracy I am confident that I did not come up with these four questions on my own (at least I don’t think I did) but I can’t for the life of me find the reference to where I found them. They are great questions and we should all ask them of ourselves…just don’t reference me as the originator to them. That being said, I share them with you on this day of Lent as we continue to self-examine our lives and how we are perhaps stunted in our Christian sanctification:
- Am I willing to obey God no matter how I feel about it?
- Am I willing to worship God through whatever happens in my life whether I understand it or not?
- Is there anything I am relying on more than God for my hope and meaning in life?
- Are there problems or limitations in my life that I think are to big for God to remove?
How we answer each of those questions will help reveal just how deep we are willing to go in order to be submitted to Christ.Ultimately, the hope is that as we answer each of these questions we will find ourselves at the foot of the cross. Only there will we be able to truly submit and truly call out to Christ as Savior and Lord in all areas of our lives.
